Well so far ive found that the site is not the best, and the upgrade to vip status is not the smoothest, but they have replied to all my emails and have tried very hard to help, so no complaints there.
I have only made 1 free call for 10 mins and i found that the line quality was fine, just like using a normal landline really. will have more idea over the next few days as i use it more really, but so far all seems good. |

I've had the following observations so far:
1) vip.startel.pt and sip.startel.pt are frequently down (right now for instance) 2) You are not informed about the "PayPal Fee" (3.4% + €0.35) prior to paying. 3) StarTel have errors in their number series, rating some landline calls as mobile calls. 4) Rates are frequently changed: no free landline calls to Australia, Denmark, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and USA since this weekend. 5) StarTel are not answering (my ) emails /dbb |

I also signed up for the free landline calls to the UK and Australia, but as yet have not called there and hadnt noticed the change from free to 1cent per min.
I have now emailed them a bit of a shirty email regarding their lack of information to their customers regarding price changes in advance. If thy are going to charge me for the Australian calls i will continue to look for another free provider. I may even ask for a full refund as this is not the service that i signed up for, but i do get free UK calls and i still need that too, but they are begining to look more and more like a cowboy outfit. |

Guys, I feel guilty for suggesting these people, from Zarkov's experience it all seems very dodgy.

Don't feel guilty . We were all interested to find out about them. Maybe they're not so bad anyway.

nah dun feel quilty m8, we all wanna find free calls, but your not to know what a company is like untill you use them. IF this is the way they run their business then they are not likely to gain or keep customers for long with this kind of attitude.
And im still waiting for a reply to my last email |

Unless I am mistaken, these 10 Euro acccounts are just the way they do make loads of money. You sign up and don't get untimed free calls unless you pay the 10 Euros, then they change the free countries and your 10 Euro is quickly theirs unless you have a reason to use it for other calls. I gave up on the free calls via such schemes long ago as a bad idea, given I spent monies on a couple of providers to have the same thing happen twice was enough.

Hi,
I already installed internetcalls.com on my AVM Fritzbox Fon WLAN 7140 without any problem. there are also screenshots available on their site+the parameters. With startel, I can't figure it out! It works with X-Lite sometimes with my billing information user I can call with X-lite rarely (just now: after + 1 minute) "the person you are calling is unavailable, please try again" my fixed line phonenumber????!!! I don't think they understand my mails well, because they never answer what I have to fill in, in my fritzbox! please, can somebody fill the right things in? I have tried 100 combinations, but it doesn't work! with internetcalls.com NO problems at all (I already paid 10 EURO calling credit with startel :-( ) I changed to startel.pt It says 'registered' like by internetcalls. message: 31.03.07 18:40:16 Error in Internet telephony during connection with 3250******45 over startel.pt. Reason for error: Not Found (404) replies from startel: Hello No, we dont have problems with our server. The best way to check If your account is correctly working, is using X-Lite to place a call. You dont need to put 00 or + when you dial the PSTN. If you can dial with X-Lite, the problem is in your fritzbox or in your LAN. Regards Nuno Octicio ---- 27 march Hello Im sory but our main server was in maintnance in the last hours. Now the service is back online. Regards Nuno Octicio ------------ thanks for your time |

Try changing your registrar to "startel.pt" but keep the proxy as "sip.startel.pt"
