fgVoIP
Season's greetings everybody.
I'm currently trialling the fgVoIP SIP client on my BlackBerry and I'm having trouble setting up Voxalot to work with it. I wondered if anybody else had succeeded. I can register PBXes with no problem and I've set up an outbound route so that all calls are made via Voxalot, so that's a practical workaround which works. I would just like to be able to register Voxalot directly as a cleaner solution. Any ideas? Edit: I've now got it working. I did a clean installation and logged in afresh. All seems to working fine now. Last edited by ataboy; 12-24-2010 at 09:19 PM. Reason: More information |

If you've got time to put together a little guide for anyone else that may want to try ... it'd be neat to add to the Wiki

I've now put together a first draft of the steps that I took to register Voxalot on my BlackBerry Bold 9000 fgVoIP client. I hope it helps. Please let me know if there are any glaring errors or confusing commands:
1. Open the application 2. Press Menu, Preferences 3. Select Profiles 4. Press Menu, Copy (this will allow you to create a new profile for Voxalot) 5. Rename the new profile Voxalot 6. Press the BlackBerry back button and save the new profile 7. Select the Voxalot profile and answer No to the option "Do you want to log in to make calls?" 8. Select Setup 9. Select Main Settings and edit as follows: 10. Press Menu, Advanced Settings and edit as follows:My name: Anything you like 11. Press the BlackBerry back button and save the new settingsRegistrar: eu.voxalot.com 12. Answer Yes to "Do you want to logout to be allowed to change settings?" 13. Back up all the way until you reach the call screen. You should see "fgVoIP ready" at the foot of the screen. You can now call from here. Alternatively if you call from your BlackBerry dialler or address book the application will force the call over VoIP if required (see Call Handling below). Now you can fine-tune your call settings. For instance, I don't want Voxalot to be used for national landline and mobile numbers as they are catered for in my provider's bundled minutes. (In the UK national numbers start with 01 & 02 and mobile numbers start with 07). a. Press Menu, Preferences b. Select Setup c. Select Call Handling d. Select Exclusion List e. Press Menu, Add number Here I added 01*(return), 02*(return), 07*. I then pressed the BlackBerry back button and saved the new settings. You can add full or partial numbers in this way. With these settings, 0800 and international numbers will be sent over Voxalot but the excluded ranges will not. |
