![]() I am using xlite 2.0 on FC5 linux. I have solid test call success. Called, 44-800-699-996 and talked with someone with british accent at Marriot Hotels' call center. However, I'm not hearing my daughter, from Minneapolis. She calls, we connect, she hears me, I don't hear her. The other issue, is, I have had a couple calls from a fellow in Tennessee, who is on Ekiga, on a Windows machine. He calls, hears me, or leaves voice message, but, when he hangs up, I have lost all sound on my system, and I can't get to my menus, so have to ctl-alt-backspace and log out of session, then log back in. Can't get a fix on whether this is voxalot issue, or ekiga issue, or my feeble attempt to be a systems admin. Any ideas on how to narrow down issues?

![]() I think this is an issue with the way xlite takes over your speaker settings -- perhaps see if there is a later version or manually adjust your sound settings when required in advanced settings [I've seen this with eyeBeam (X-Ten Pro) as well].
Edit: I am talking about my own Windows XP experience above, but who knows if Linux FC5 has a similar issue. |

![]() Thanks. Took a look, and will try calls with my daughter's voxalot account. We had good luck last weekend, but I kept fiddling around and managed to screw things up, I guess. I'm happy I could have a two-way conversation with an international call. Now, I just have to reestablish connection with my daughter's account. Will report the results. Wish me luck.

![]() This morning, the following:
656916@voxalot.com has success on all test calls, including two-way voice with Marriot hotel desk at: 44-800-699-996 506167@voxalot.com has success on all test calls, including two-way voice with Marriot hotel desk at: 44-800-699-996 When 656916@voxalot.com calls 506167@voxalot.com, 506167 cannot hear 656916, but 656916 hears 506167. When 506167@voxalot.com calles 656916@voxalot.com, 656916 hears 506167, but 506167 cannot hear 656916. Neither voxalot.com account has PC-to-Phone account, yet. Any Ideas???? |

![]() I suspect 506167 is the one with the issue. Try calling 600 (echo test) from both accounts and let us know what you find.

![]() I agree with you. I'm the one that fiddles and gums things up. Here's the results of my 600 test, which seemed OK to me.

![]() I tried the following command:
# netstat -anp | grep 5060 udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5060 0.0.0.0:* 28381/xtensoftphone [root@localhost tom]# netstat -anp | grep 8000 [root@localhost tom]# It reports listening on port 5060, which is displayed in system settings for xlite. But, it doesn't show listening on port 8000, which is displayed in system settings for xlite under RTP. Not sure how to pin down whether this is expected. Any linux admin types out there that can shed light on this for me? |

![]() Hi,
you will see the open port 8000 only when a call is in progress since the port is only opened after successfull negotiation via sip protocoll. Did you forward the sip and rtp ports on your router? Test with 'providers' on the other end will usually work since they usually are not behind a NAT-firewall; what is the 99% culprit of one way audio. P.S.: no need to bother the hotel helpdesk, use 1-800-555TELL instead (reachable via ENUM and has voice activated menu). Last edited by schufti; 09-05-2006 at 06:55 AM. |
