Default Inbound VoIP calls

If I have the following set up:

- my ATA registered to Voxalot
- a Provider set up and registered on my Voxalot account (eg Astratel 8888nnnn)
- Call Forwarding Default rule set to my Voxalot number (ie sip:xxxxxx@voxalot.com.au)

should I be able to receive calls to that Provider account from another ATA with an account with the same VSP?

This works fine with two ATAs both registered directly to the VSP, but when one ATA is setup via Voxalot as above, what I get when I dial in is about ten seconds of silence followed by a voice message saying that "the person at the extension at my Voxalot number is unavailable and leave a voicemail..."

So it seems that Voxalot is receiving the incoming call and knows to send it to my Voxalot account, but the call doesn't get forwarded. Incoming calls from PSTN via SipBroker work so Call forwarding is basically working.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am not an expert in this but if you have an ATA registered with your VoXaLot account, and VoXaLot is registered to you Pennytel account, then there should be no need to have a call forward in you VoXaLot account. When someone calls your Pennytel number VoXalot will recieve the call and will ring any address registed with the VoXaLot account. The forward would only be used if you want it to ring at some other address, in my case, directly to an IP address instead of an ATA registed with VoXaLot.

MG.

Thanks for the advice.

I removed the Default Call Forward line and incoming voip calls now work.

However inbound PSTN calls via Sipbroker don't work without the Default Call Forward entry.

So it seems it might be a case of having one or the other, unless I've missed something??

Despite reading the Tutorials around Configuring Your ATA/Making Your Phone Ring and the one on Call Forwarding, I didn't understand the operation of inbound calls correctly.

I wonder if it might be worth adding a clarifying sentence to one or both the above tutorials making it obvious that incoming voip calls to a Voxalot registered account will pass the call on to the ATA registered to Voxalot by default.

Thanks again to Voxalot for a great service, and an excellent website for set up and tutorials.

How are you dialling via SIP Broker?

What ATA are you using?

Martin
PSTN testing is as per my earlier post
http://forum.voxalot.com/showthread.php?t=885

The ATA I am testing with is a Netcomm V300.
Dial in is via the local SipBroker number (Bris Aust 61 7 3018 2881) from a PSTN phone, get the voice prompt, then I enter *061xxxxxx for my Voxalot number.
I then get a continuous beep beep tone like Number Unobtainable.

It is not a big issue for me as the PSTN dial in has large delay due to New York round trip as previously discussed and so is not really useful.

The incoming calls from local VSP accounts is more important for me and that works well.

Thanks

I still have problems that all my incoming calls automatically forward in my voicemail. But I am always online and would like to hear ring in my phone.

Could somebody help me?
