Voicestick apparently had some abuse issues last year, and as a result blocked Asterisk - even sending private users rather snotty hints about criminal behaviour.
I know little about Asterisk, and whether they could distinguish private and commercial versions, and in November they said on another forum they were addressing this More Voicestick Problems - PrePaidGSM.net Forum I haven't seen any update on there - it seems Bruce N doesn't turn up that often - but maybe elsewhere? There are a few other Voicestick threads there ... some people have occasionally had issues with it going to their forwarded destination voicemail an instant after the caller had actually hung up, resulting in a 6 minute charge - which is refunded on request. But for this, it looks like it could be popular with Americans forwarding to UK/IoM and other mobiles - or they could just switch off the VM. I hesitated about putting this on here, as in a way I thought it unfair as the info is a few months out of date. I haven't done a search for newer stuff on forums I'm a stranger to. Perhaps others here can add more detail and update this? Last edited by andy; 04-22-2007 at 12:28 PM. |

Have a look at this thread: broadband help » Forums » Up and Running » VOIP Tech Chat » [VoiceStick] BYOD configurations needed
I think there are two problems with Voicestick: 1. They do not accept Asterisk servers (allegedly because of fraud prevention). 2. They REQUIRE a TTL of 60min (3600s) when registering with their SIP server and refuses all registration attempts with any other TTL value. |

2. Voxalot's TTL is 3600 secs so this should not be the problem.

Martin, have you tried to contact Bruce Nicklin of i2telecom (NO_Spam_bnicklin@i2telecom.com)? Although he is in the Marketing dept. he could provide the right contacts to the techies. AFAIK VoiceStick isn't that big (8 employees)...
I'd really love to use VoiceStick with VoXaLot since they provide a US DID for free (with no monthly fees). |
