Default FWD and Voxalot

Hi,

I've been trying to use FWD (FreeWorldDialup) with Voxalot and although I have spent several hours, I'm still unable to get it working.

The way I would like to have my configuration is having IPKall forwarding to FWD and then use Voxalot to forward any incoming calls to my SIP phone (I will later register another provider to Voxalot for the outgoing calls).

Having the FWD settings on my ATA, I can call the IPKall number and the phone will ring.

Having the Voxalot settings on the ATA and calling one of the SIPBroker Access Numbers again the phone will ring. Echo test also works.

However, if I try to call my IPKall number having the Voxalot settings at the ATA, I get a busy tone and the phone does not ring.

I don't think it is a problem of the configuration. Below are my provider settings in Voxalot for FWD:

Provider Name: FWD
Username: 6-digit FWD number
Codecs: ulaw;alaw
Host: fwd.pulver.com
Port: 5061 (I'm using the same port at the ATA)
Active: Yes
SIP register: No
Optimize Audio Path: Yes

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To receive incoming calls from FWD, your SIP register must be set to "Yes".

Alternately, you can set up your FWD account to "forward" all incoming calls to your Voxalot account [xxxxxx@voxalot.com], since FWD allows that.

SIP Register set to no enables you to make outgoing calls from Voxalot.
Typically, you would set up a VSP for outgoing calls only with SIP Register set to No.

There is no good reason to setup FWD with SIP Register set to yes. The forwarding that FWD does is all that you need to receive incoming calls. Outgoing calls using FWD work fine without SIP registration.

Thank you both kurun and affinity. It did work this way. Just as a reference to future users, the forward URI you need to set at FWD should look like:

sip:xxxxxx@us.voxalot.com (or eu.voxalot.com, or au.voxalot.com depending on where you live).

sip:xxxxxx@voxalot.com should also find it's way to you.
