Voicemail via facebook

Hi Guys,

As many of you are already aware, as part of Voxalot premium, members can use "Visual Voicemail" i.e. the ability to listen to and manage your voicemail from the Voxalot website.

We are considering the possibility of extending this to facebook and were wondering if this would be of some interest to members?

Please ride the Facebook hype as long as it exists! You deserve the further buzz. Why should only Jeff Pulver get all the quotes for making FWD Facebook's universal voice inbox? You can do that too!

Hi Markus,

FWD's voicemail is quite good. Our plan is to make Voxalot voicemail accessible from multiple sources. At the moment we support email, phone and web (through Voxalot website).

FYI we are also going to be releasing a new facebook application "VoxPhone" which will allow users to initiate SIP calls to their friends with a single click.

URI's can be "any" not just Voxalot. For example one of your friends might have the URI sip:123456@abc.com and another sip:654321@xyz.com and as long as both install "VoxPhone" on facebook a single click on the friend will initiate the call.

The application also does IVR verification of URI's during installation to stop misuse and spoofing.

Sounds interesting, but forcing you and your friend(s) to each have VoxPhone doesn't sound like the way to go. The sipbroker call me links work fine, bringing up a page and you can change your number (typically it will stay the same), press the call button and the 'callme' number (otherwise hidden) is called -- sure, you would need a callme like link for each friend, but it needn't be one like sipbroker's, it should work on the URI previously specified and could present itself like this:

... once clicked, it will do the same as the sipbroker link, but default to the clickers standard SIP URI for the first call leg without the extra sipbroker screen being necessary (although that could be optional).
