How can you be sure they've done this? I guess you can call if registered to Betamax but can't if registered through VoXaLot, right? I had a hunch they would block VoXaLot once they got a wiff of it.

I feel like a common wh*re swearing allegiance to Betamax when VoXaLot is so great, but money talks in this case.

Martin, is there anything we can do to try and campaign Betamax? Why is it so bad for them to have people using VoXaLot anyway? They offer free calls to most places, so the only disadvantage for them is that I can use a different provider for mobile/cell calls.

We must admit the signs aren't good though.

I'm waiting for a reply to my email to Voipcheap suggesting that not all occurrence of multiple usernames at one IP address is abuse, and that they could white-list some, which they presumably already do in cases like Voxbone whose DID services they have promoted.

And there are plenty of other VoIP services to use with Voxalot; I just signed up for a new one a few minutes ago.


edit - Tom, we don't know yet if they have specifically identified and barred Voxalot for what it is, or just multiple use that they've assumed is wholesale, as they might at any busy IP address like a callshop

No haven't been told specifically. They never reply to email anyway

Yes, if you have a device with more than one line (or an ATA with 2 phones attached, I suppose).

For example, the Grandstream GXP2000 that I have has 4 lines so you can set line 1 with Betamax and it will be the default for outgoing calls. Then line 2 would be Voxalot for incoming calls but they default to line 1 if no call is in progress.

The main advantage of Voxalot for me though is the least cost call routing so that's now out the window. Also the dial plans since Grandstream haven't added those to the firmware yet.
