The 1800 you dialed previously works via enum lookups. Consequently the 1800 number you are dialing will have to be registered with one of the enum roots sip broker checks, if not the call will not go through.

The *1800 is via sip broker and is a direct termination and works with all toll free numbers in North America.

Tony.

Default 1800266000 goint to the wrong destination?

When I enter 1800266000 (a Telstra Australia contact number) to test my dial plans, the result is:
A call to:1800266000 will get forwarded to sip:800266000@public.sip.magrathea.net

That does not look right. I don't have any active dial plan to handle 1800 numbers, so is that something VoXaLot is doing by itself? When I activate a dial plan to handle 1800 numbers (_1[38]00xxxxxx) it seems to be ignored anyway, and the same result as above is given.

Am I missing something?

Hi,

Just go into the dial plan entry and set "ENUM Lookup" to "No"

What are the advantages of using this versus enum? If it benefits VoXaLot is some way I will change my dial plan to use *1800...

Default An 800 Service Available...

I also have tried dialing the 1800 without a * and it does go through. I have also come across this Beta Google 800 number for finding a business in a particular city. This is a voice activated google search, try it, you'll like it! 1-800-466-4411 ..... Dennis

It works just fine, but only if you are looking for a business in the U.S. The system is totally ignorant about Australia.

Wouldn't it be possible to also dial out to European toll-free numbers in the near future?

I know that FWD allows users to call toll-free numbers in The Netherlands and some other European countries.

Anything is possible. If a European provider would like to sponsor these terminations we are more than happy to discuss it with them.

Martin

Can I make a suggestion that Toll Free numbers be dialled by entering:
* [country code] [Toll Free Number]

That way you should be able to add numbers in any country.

That would mean that to dial a US toll free number would be *1 + number, eg.
*11800xxxxxx while a UK number would be *44800xxxxxx, a German number *49800xxxxxx and an Australian number *611800xxxxxx

The system could probably cope with either keeping or dropping a leading "0" so that a UK 0800 number could dialled as either *440800xxx or *44800xxx without confusion.

Just an idea

Alan
