Trixbox settings for Voxalot

Hi guys,

I've been trying to set up a new trunk for Voxalot in my Trixbox (Asterisk).
I can register and use voicemail with no problem but all incoming and outgoing calls are disconnected a few seconds after they're picked up.

I assumed it had to do with the right codecs but now I'm not so sure, seeing as I've tried all possible combinations I could think of.

Is anyone using Voxalot with Trixbox? Do you mind sharing your configs with me?

Thanks a lot

If you use asterisk/trixbox etc, you would be best just using e164.org direct or sipbroker.com as you can do your own dial plans you don't really need voxalot.com

I haven't configured Trixbox yet, but here is what I use with Asterisk:

Code:

[voxalot-in]
username=xxxxxx              ;VoXaLot number goes here
type=peer
secret=xxxxxxxx              ;VoXaLot password goes here
nat=yes
insecure=very
host=voxalot.com
fromuser=xxxxxx              ;VoXaLot number goes here
fromdomain=voxalot.com
context=from-trunk
canreinvite=no

[voxalot-out]
username=xxxxxx              ;VoXaLot number goes here
type=peer
secret=xxxxxxxx              ;VoXaLot password goes here
nat=yes
insecure=very
host=voxalot.com
fromuser=xxxxxx              ;VoXaLot number goes here
fromdomain=voxalot.com
canreinvite=no

hi guys,

Ron, thanks for sharing your settings, but they do not work on my machine. Can't get incoming calls yet, they are disconnected straight away after they've been answered.
I've tried adding the lines:
disallow=all
allow=ulaw&alaw

guessing it's a codec issue but still no luck..

The reason why I'd like to register with Voxalot while using Asterisk is that my Trixbox is running on a machine very low on RAM, so I want to use Voxalot to register with my 20-some incoming numbers/providers while I would only have one registration in Asterisk's sip.conf.

I will use Trixbox for dialling out and dialplan rules and I can easily do that seeing as none of my providers require me to be registered to make outgoing calls.

Am I just being stupid to think that less providers to register with for Asterisk will use up less RAM? Be honest..., I won't take offence!

Manula,

I'm afraid I don't have much knowledge of Asterisk/Tribox. I ran Asterisk for several months under VMWare and most everything worked as it was supposed to. I was surprised how easily it came up and how stable it was, so I didn't get much experience with ironing out problems. My VMWare was configured for 4GB of disk and 256MB of RAM. I had eight trunks set up (including one to VoXaLot), but there was never more than two or three in use at any one time. As it was, it was quite impressive. It's easier to let VoXaLot do all the work or I'd still be running it.

Ron,

The setting works fine in trixbox for inbound. I have not tested outbound yet. I just did copy and paste. The only thing I suspect that other user may not have is externhost setting if he/she is behind a nat router. I have had problems with other providers in the past with that.
