Suggestion: Distinctive CallerID

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but here goes...

Is there any way for voxalot to modify the inbound CallerID based on a user-supplied criteria in the per-provider config. Perhaps using an $exten construct... or just simply a numeric 'prefix' field.

As an example of this, lets say I would like to disambiguate calls recieved on Provider 1 and Provider 2 as recieved on my common voxalot account.

Say I could set the following in my providers configuration:

- Provider 1: Append '1' to displayed ID. (or '1{$exten}')
- Provider 2: Append '2' to displayed ID. (or '2{$exten}')

Then, for an inbound call from 0191xxxxxxx, my telephony device would show either:
10191xxxxxxx
-or-
20191xxxxxxx

Thus indicating the specific DID called by the party I'm about to answer. I'm aware that IP phones can display the {caller}@{providerIP}... but this alone may not help someone with multiple access lines on a single provider. Nor does it help anyone using an analog phone such as via PAP2T.

I know it could play havok with 'call return' automatic dialling... but then, one could match the callerID prefix to their dialing rules so that the line selected on call return is automatic... for example...

Dialed calls begining '*1' go out on Provider 1
... calls recieved on Provider 1 get a '*1' CallerID prefix.
Dialed calls begining '*2' go out on Provider 2
... calls recieved on Provider 1 get a '*2' CallerID prefix.

This way, address-book-dialing or automated-call-back facility would support multiple providers transparently, with the appropriate provider being automatically be selected to match the earlier inbound DID.

Is anything like this possible, or am I just being silly ; )

That would be a great feature.
Having DID's at various places around this country and planet, I would love to see which number is being called!
