No dialtone on free account
Hi -
Appreciate any help in advance :D I'm looking to arrange the standard voxalot setup for myself: betamax for outgoing and DID from another provider for incoming. I have correctly registered my ATA with voxalot, according to the ATA status page. However, I do not have a dial tone. It's a Vonage-unlocked PAP2v2. Am I correct in thinking that I need a voxlite account (the $15/year one) ? Or is there a technical problem I have yet to identify? |
The ATA should have dial tone whenever it's registered on a SIP proxy, you don't need a paid Voxalot account to get dial tone.
The problem with the PAP2v2 is that no good documentation is available for it. Firmware and settings are somewhat different than other Linksys ATAs. |
I don't think your problem is related to voxalot.
If you are using the only one line on PAP2v2 try to configure your account on line 2 only. |
I have tried both lines. I can register with MSS and directly with betamax to make outgoing calls (and receive incoming on MSS).
Yeah, the PAP2v2 is a fickle bitch. Maybe it's time to buy another. |
I suspect that my ATA *requires* an SIP registration to work - is there anyone to get a "test" account - would only need it for 5 minutes to make sure my theory is correct!

VoXPremium only deals with registration between VoXalot and other providers (and this only if these other providers require to be registered rather than offering SIP Forwarding)... |
** UPDATE ***
I bought a new ATA today. Just for kicks, tested the old PAP2v2. It decides to register with voxalot and provide dial tone. :D Brilliant! Hope the shop takes refunds! |
