Call latency - connecting audio directly to Provider
Much as I like VoXaLot and what it does, I have been forced to stop using it due to bad call quality. It doesn't suprise me given that calls are now routed from UK to UK via a US server. The difference is very obvious in my case.
I noticed last month that pbxes.org has an audio passthrough option which by my understanding, diretly links the user and the provider while still allowing dial plans etc. Is this a feature that could be added to VoXaLot? Martin, I look forward to seeing an email about a UK server starting up, then I'll give VoXaLot another go. It is a really useful thing to have on the phone, but not if call quality suffers. |
Hi Tom,
WE understand the need for a European based server. This was made more obvious when we saw that over 26% of our member base was in Europe/UK. (Tony will post more about those results in the the next day or two). Anyway, today we finalised the terms on a new proxy based in the Netherlands that we hope to bring on-line within the next few days. Look for an announcement on the forum very soon. Edit: Audio passthrough is possible on VoXaLot if you use STUN and bypass our RTPProxy. A quick search on the forum and faq.sipbroker.com should give some good pointers on STUN. |
