Skype vs. SIP vs. Voxalot

I understand that Skype uses proprietary protocol that's not SIP.

I saw there is a SIP to Skype gateway here.

I am wondering if I can make outbound and inbound in Voxalot using my skype account.

It would make a headline if Voxalot has or can provide this capability.

If not, does anyone knows any capability out there?

Thanks.

Skype is good only if one has fast braodband connection but that is often a basic requirement with voip anyway. No matter how good your internet connection is,it is a case with the connecting party who may still be on dial up or slow speed. In those cases Skype is very poor as it uses more bandwidth than SIP. I may be wrong.
The downside is that Skype must be run on a computer! I am aware that there are portable wifi skype phones are out now but you have to keep up with upgrading of client.OK they offer video, so does some SIP softphones.
More important is the cost comparison with VSP and you will find Skype is not cheap.
SKype phone number is on a subscription and voicemail is not free.
I have been using Skype but less so these days and I am trying to convince people to choose less costly solution to their voice contact needs.
Please prove me wrong and I will accept.
