eu.voxalot.com server down today...why no notice ?
This morning at 4am GMT (21/1/09) my SPA3102 could not register with the EU server. There was no information given as to why it was down nor was I sent an email about the outage. I confirmed that the US & AU servers were online by pinging them.
I am not very impressed with this after having spent my $25 only a few days ago to sign up. Because I was waiting for urgent calls I decided to switch my server to the AU server as it had the best ping time for me compared with the US. To do this I had to first unregester all of my five VSP accounts and then change the configuration in my ATA. What a hassle! I have just come home and funnily enough the EU server is back online but I think this is very poor service on Voxalot's behalf. |
This is a problem from LeaseWeb provider who rents to Voxalot the eu.voxalot.com server. Some days ago I've received from LeaseWeb the following e-mail:
«Start window: Mon 12 Jan 2009 00:00So, Voxalot has no guilty about EU server being down. I'm also using the US server to prevent this problem, because for me US server has better response time than the AU server. Regards. |
In my logs I don't see any outage in the connection to eu.voxalot.com. Whole night the registration succeeded. So, it must be a problem elsewhere, I suppose.
Apparently it seems there will be scheduled downtime untill February 1st. It would be nice if Voxalot would inform it's customers when that will happen. They will get the exact date from Leaseweb (may be an admin can confirm that we will get this information in any way? That is, if there is any admin reading this, what I doubt from earlier experiences). |

Thanks, It's now 5pm GMT and the eu server is down again! I can ping the us & au with no problem. Again I haven't received any status notification. eu server backup again
Woke up to find my ATA back online again. I hope it stays that way.
Is my understanding about the way that SIP works is that the servers are only needed to connect the calling parties together and then it's handed off to a direct connection between the callers? If so that means having a longer ping to a server only means it'll take slightly longer for the call to connect but then the voice packets themselves travel directly between the parties and not passing through this server? Thankyou |
Looks like the eu server is down again! In fact has been down now for eight hours. Both the AU & US servers repond to pings so not sure what is going on???

I'm moving to the US server, I cannot call or receive calls with the EU server...
|
As advised in a previous post, our service provider (LeaseWeb) is currently experiencing problems. A support ticket has been raised and we will advise once things are operational again.
We apologise for the inconvenience. |
Too late I'm afraid, I've moved to the AU server. The EU server being down twice in a month and now for 12 hours is too much .
