VoXaLot Support Forums in multiple languages

Hello everyone,

As a result of our recent survey, the team at VoXaLot has been toying with the idea of creating VoXaLot support forums in multiple languages.

As usual we love to hear directly from our active community as to what there preferences are?

So can you all please weigh in and cast your vote for your preferred language.

Thanks,

Tony.

English may not be the world's most spoken language, but most people tend to manage with English if they must (or so it seems) -- there are any number of lists / forums where the poster claims poor English, yet they post very well.

Personally, I think it would be better for all help information and webpage applications to have language options to suit.

Having multiple forums would cause some posts / threads on issues and interesting topics to only be done in one language [other than English] and some of those posts / threads could be more univerally appreciated. Although there is an answer for this.... see below.

If multiple forums end up existing, then I would like to see at least one person on each forum that is able to translate posts and where appropriate, post an English version [and vice versa] so that both forums can benefit. This way, there is more chance of a good thread being available to benefit anyone, instead of getting lost on one forum. Not every post / thread would need to be translated, but hopefully at least a summary if the post / thread is universally interesting enough....

My english is not that bad, but I think that support in Dutch would be great.

Yep - I agree with you. This is line with our thinking. Which is to have at least one moderator on each of the alternate language forums that can translate relevant posts to the English forum and vice versa.

I reckon that even a little bit of information in different languages could make a service more popular (and findalbe in web searches). A Polish forum probably would be a good thing.

I think multilingual support is a good idea. It will help users with little English knowledge to use this service, and make it more popular.
But only support language in forum is not enough. The language must be supported in the website interface, or the user who does not know English will simply go away without finding the forum.

As for the problem mentioned above, about translation useful threads to English, I think most of threads would be some easy questions about configuration and using the service with popular local providers.
Peoples with more advanced knowledge are, usually, know English so they will ask on English forums because it's community is greater and chance to receive the answer is bigger.

pash7ka,

Thanks for your input.

Creating the website in different languages is all part of the plan along with the forums in different languages. Using the poll to determine what are the popular languages for forum support also tells us what languages to prioritize for the web site content.

Tony.
