Second U.S. Server Online
 

Hello,

Today we activated our second U.S. server to the voxalot.com cluster. To take advantage of load balancing and failover, we suggest that you change your ATA / device settings to use SRV lookups.

This is the only change members should need to make.

On my grandstream 486 i found "USE DNS SRV" and the option is yes and no, right now its on no.

Is that the option you mean should stay on yes ? What would that do good?

Yes, setting it to yes will do 2 things:

1. It will balance the load between the servers within the cluster
2. If one of the servers go down, the other will automatically take over

Does this apply to Europe also?

It applies to eveyone that is current pointing their device / ATA / Phone to voxalot.com.

We are currently looking at setting up a dedicated server in the UK and/or Europe.

Do was also want to enable 'DNS SRV Auto Prefix'?

Just looking at the Sipura manual:

1. Change Use DNS SRV: Yes.
2. Change DNS SRV Auto Prefix: Yes.
3. Change Proxy Redundancy Method: Based on SRV Port.

An EU server would be awesome as I think it would cut down on latency. When I used the 600 echo test I could say echo before hearing myself say it back. Is that too much latency? I was hoping for more like 200ms! VoXaLot works great though - really happy with being able to use dial plans on VoipDiscount.
