Voice is breaking up
I have Linksys WRT54GP2 setup with SipPhone for over a year now, everything was fine up until just recently other party can hear me just fine but their voice is breaking-up at my end. It doesn't matter if the call is made from a PSTN line or Sip Phone in both cases their voice is breaking. No changes were made to the configuration or internet. Same setup for over a year. Any ideas what I should focus on????? thanks in advance

If your Linksys WRT54GP2 has a call status page look at 'Jitter' and 'Packets Lost' during a call.
Heavy Internet usage can cause VoIP to break up. Perhaps your neighbor is pirating your bandwidth, or mayby someone on the wired LAN is using bittorrent. Use WPA/WPA2 encryption with a strong shared key, or turn off the WiFi radio altogether. |
This is my cousins VOIP in India. Wireless of turned off and at the time of the calls computer is also shutdown. Like I said it was all working for about a year and all of sudden without any changes it started to act up.

Were you able to get a reading for 'Jitter' and 'Packets Lost' ?
The problem may be a restriction in data rate at the ISP servicing the WRT54GP2. You may get some improvement by using a low rate codec. As a test, you should try the G729a codec setting and also set "Use Pref Codec Only:" to yes. |
