VoXaLot Service Upgrade

The service will be unavailable for the next 10mins while we upgrade our servers.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

martin 01-22-2007 02:23 AM

Service is back up. Please read our RELEASE NOTES

While waiting for the release notes please note that dialling other voxalot members now requires a leading *010

e.g. Dialling VoXaLot member 123456 is now *010123456

Services numbers now also have a leading *

e.g. Dialling echo test is now *600

Please also register your ATAs/Devices/Phones to our new addresses:

us.voxalot.com <- U.S. Cluster
au.voxalot.com <- Australian Cluster

Official release notes to come.

Thanks.

usf 01-22-2007 03:20 AM

Martin,

None of my provider registrations have returned since the service upgrade. They're all still listed as '-', as if I have them set to NO.

Ron

martin 01-22-2007 04:21 AM

Thanks Ron. Please check again within the next few minutes and let us know if it is now ok?

Ron 01-22-2007 05:17 AM

Martin,

Everything looks good now.

Thanks.

Ron

Oigle05 01-22-2007 06:20 AM

Martin, I can't get anywhere dialling *010 before another V number or *600 either. Just get nothing.

O

martin 01-22-2007 06:25 AM

Check your device dial plan to make sure that it is allowing * numbers through to VoXaLot.

If *600 is not working then this is where I would look first.

Oigle05 01-22-2007 06:33 AM

Martin, I have a Netcomm V300 which doesn't have dial plans. This is the whole reason I went to VoXaLoT in the first place.
O

martin 01-22-2007 06:37 AM

Are you able to dial any SIP Broker numbers?

e.g. *393613 or *266300

Do you have a dial plan entry in VoXaLot that is intercepting? PM me your 6 digit number and I can take a quick look.

Oigle05 01-22-2007 06:40 AM

No, Can't dial those numbers either. Dialling normally via my dial plans seems to be OK though.

O

SIP forwarding

Does this mean that sip url dialing is now *010xxxxxx@us.voxalot.com or can it stiik be left as xxxxxx@voxalot.com. I have a couple of services that I simply forward to voxalot

martin 01-22-2007 06:45 AM

SIP URIs will remain the same. Either sip:xxxxxx@voxalot.com, sip:xxxxxx@us.voxalot.com etc will work.

Im wondering if this device allows * prefixed numbers?

What happens when you type *600 in the VoXaLot dial plan test field?

Oigle05 01-22-2007 06:54 AM

*600 in the dial plan test field says that it will get forwarded via V, as does *01067xxxx

zaq 01-22-2007 06:54 AM

Hi Martin,

Is it possible for Voxalot to prefix all numbers that dont match any dialplans and != ^* with *010?
*010500 works ok too.

Cheers,
Zaq

O

VoXaLot dial plan appear to be ok. Can I ask you to try setting up a dial plan entry that matches 500

Pattern: _500
Replacement: ${EXTEN}
Provider: VoXaLot

or

Pattern: _500
Replacement: *010${EXTEN}
Provider: SIP Broker

and then try to dial 500 again.

Yes, however if you just want to dial a VoXaLot member by default without prefixing *010 then you could add an entry at the bottom like:

Pattern: _xxxxxx
Replacement: ${EXTEN}
Provider: VoXaLot

Oigle05 01-22-2007 07:19 AM

Just get a busy tone on 500.

This sounds good, I tried your sugesstion but got the message "The person on that extension .... is not available"

Calling *010xxxxxx works though.

martin 01-22-2007 07:21 AM

Sorry made a last minute edit. Can you try this combo:

Pattern: _500
Replacement: *010${EXTEN}
Provider: SIP Broker

and then try to dial 500 again.

Try via SIP Broker:

Pattern: xxxxxx
Replacement: *010${EXTEN}
Provider: SIP Broker

This would mean people will have to enter the mailbox number etc the whole lot.

Any added latency going via Sipbroker ?

It said that the pattern is invalid i.e. I couldn't set that configuration up on V

zaq 01-22-2007 07:31 AM

I also notice keys presssed in the VM system are nolonger recorgnised, it used to work before the upgrade.

Oigle05 01-22-2007 07:31 AM

Sorry Martin. Forgot the underscore_. I'll try again

Ok good. I am almost certain your device is not allowing * prefixed numbers. Is it possible there are speed dial options or something in this device that is internally handling * numbers?

Oigle05 01-22-2007 07:38 AM

I don't think so Martin, but I have the user guide on line so I'll see if I can find anything.

244751 01-22-2007 07:47 AM

Another question. With this new cluster do we still need the DNS srv options set to true on our ATA.

Also do I need to update my already setup mobile mywebcallback voxalot number from 244751 to *010244751?

Can't find anything that related to speed dials in my ata documentation. My V300 is just a plain, simple ATA without bells and whistles. Looks like this is a "downgrade" for me, but it's not that big a deal as I can call my two contacts (daughters) via SIPME for free anyway. It's just that I really hate it when things get upgraded and then something doesn't work.

O

Ron 01-22-2007 08:39 AM

Martin,

_XXX *${EXTEN} VoXaLot

gets the correct result from Test:

A call to:500 will get forwarded to sip:*500@voxalot.com

but gets a fast busy whenever you actually dial it.

_XXX *010${EXTEN} VoXaLot

gets the correct result from Test:

A call to:500 will get forwarded to sip:*010500@voxalot.com

but prompts for the VoXaLot number and always complains that the login is incorrect.

_XXXXXX *010${EXTEN} VoXaLot

appears to work correctly for VoXaLot numbers.

This change was badly needed as our 6 digit numbering space is being used up and extending to 7+ digits will conflict with peoples dial plans.

All I can do is apologise for the inconvenience and attempt to work through peoples issues while we bed down this major change.

@Ron thanks for diagnostics we will look into them in more detail.

My Pennytel DID stopped working, I got enaggaged signal calling from a mobile phone. Is this something related to the upgrade or Pennytel's DID is down? anyone ?

Oigle05 01-22-2007 09:45 AM

Well Martin, I can't get through to any of my Sip numbers via V. I made a dial plan with 1777. firstly and the test says that a call to 1777xxxxxx will go thru OK but all I get is busy tone on a real call. Changed the dial plan to equal the whole Sipme number and got the same result. Registered my ATA directly to Sipme and could call direct to Sipme number without drama. I have tried the same thing with Pennytel and have got the same results.
Sipme and Pennytel are both registered on V on my account and one of my contact's accounts.
So what it boils down to is that I can't make any free SIP calls via V at present.

Oigle05 01-22-2007 10:03 AM

Also, just noticed that one of my contact's accounts doesn't show the Sipme provider as being registered even though I tried to do so a few times.

My StanaPhone DID still works after the upgrade. SIP Broker PSTN access is also working.

Oigle05 01-22-2007 11:54 AM

Martin, can you tell me whether the dial tone I hear on my phone connected to the ATA comes from VoXaLot or the ATA? If V is supplying the DT If I just dial a *, the dial tone stops which would indicate to me that my ATA is forwarding the *. If The ATA supplies it then it is probably stopping the * from going past it.
O

martin 01-22-2007 01:27 PM

Your ATA supplies the dial tone. I'm interested in getting to the bottom of your problem.

Is there any chance that you can run etherreal or ngrep to sniff your network for messages?

Also if you give me your 6 digit number I can look at the logs for any clues.

@zaq, I just sent you a PM could you please take a look.
