Problems with GoTalk registration

I am having some problems with registering GoTalk (sip.gotalk.com)
Registration seems to drop out and no calls can be made and Vox shows 'request sent'. However, when I bypass Vox with my ATA to make a call registration occurs with Vox and I can then make calls.
There is no warning when this occurs.

Hally,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention as well as posting the link to the whirlpool forum. We will investigate what is causing this issue and respond.

Tony.

I have been having this problem too.

In the last 24 hours though, my Voxalot registration to sip.gotalk.com has appeared stable.

Cheers

We would appreciate it very much if you could keep us posted with any registration issues you are having - as nothing has changed on our end since the issue has been raised and our investigations have not revealed any thing yet.

Thanks.

Tony.

Hi guys,

Please PM me both your respective Voxalot account numbers and I will take a look.

Thanks

I tried to make a GoTalk call too [need to make at least one billable call each 60 days to keep the account 'active'...]

Had "Failed" registration status, I disabled SIP register and re-enabled it a while ago now (today), it is now at "Request Sent", so I can't use GoTalk at this time through Voxalot either.

Could this problem be due to the fact that GoTalk has some 'unlimited' plans with fair use policy -- perhaps one or more GoTalk accounts have exceeded the fair use policy and those are registered to the AU Voxalot server. Or the combination of accounts has done so causing GoTalk to suspend access?

This is also our suspicion. The REQUEST_SENT status indicates a registration request being sent and *not* responded to by the provider.

Unfortunately, without a valid response to a SIP registration we have no visibility of the reason.

This would not applied to my account when I was having the problems with registration. I have been nowhere near the limits quoted in the fair use policy.

That said, I haven't had the problem for the last week or so.

Cheers

It doesn't apply to my account either, directly; it is possibly the indirect effect of other user accounts where this does apply and with those accounts using Voxalot servers. It is still a problem with my GoTalk account which is an older standard one.

I decided to register GoTalk as a 'profile' in my Billion gear, but I keep getting "Error 400". GoTalk support finished a little more than 10 minutes ago now... :(

I changed "SIP Register" to "No" within my Voxalot account.

Many GoTalk cutomers register their VoIP accounts through servces provided by Voxalot Pty Ltd.

Whilst it is known that a customer must register their VoIP account to be able to make calls, many people are not getting successful registrations through Voxalot.

I removed "SIP Register" from Voxalot to use my account on a Billion ATA (Billion 7402VGP). Initially I was getting 400 errors on registration -- a quick call to support managed to reset this problem with my own account (outside of Voxalot).

I believe that the problems with Voxalot relate to many GoTalk account registereing through the same Voxalot server cluster they have 3 clusters locations worldwide, one being in AU). It is likely that one or moe customers registered through Voxalot have exceeded the fair use policy or the aggregation of customer accounts has done so from the same IP address.

Please contat me if you require further information.

Thanks. We have received a response from GoTalk. Tony will elaborate.

Hi All,

The response from GoTalk is that they have DOS (Denial of Service) measures that block large number of registrations attempts within a short rolling period based on IP address and port and that this would explain why there are intermittent registration issues.

We will look to work collaboratively with GoTalk to see if they are able to make an exception with Voxalot servers/customers.

Tony.

Thanks for that Tony ... it all makes sense now. Hopefully it will be resolved sooner rather than later :)

Do incoming GoTalk calls work for you guys/gals? I have found that with a registered GoTalk account (with Voxalot) doesn't receive incoming calls from GoTalk -- instead a call will go to voicemail (although calling voicemail says I still have zero messages).
