I would like to venture into VOIP but would like to know what the advantages
of the SPA3102 would be for me. I make international phone calls from my
land line at the moment which cost me 1ppm to malaw mobile via 0844*. This
rate is not matched by any of the VOIP companies that I have searched for on
the net. I would also like to use my mobile to make calls out and receive
calls from people who call my land line number, but I don't want to pay too
much to receive these calls if any.

It is very rare to be able to justify a voip project on call costs
alone. There are CPS operators who will always be cheaper.

spa3102 are for those who's into more exotic flexibilty.
so basically the great voxalot is like getting those spa3102 features without buying spa3102. so if you're not into such things and really just want plain cheap if not free calls then go for cheaper or simple ata or ip phones.

though main factors i like having spa3102...
1.remote calling ( calling your phone connected to spa3102 and able to place international calls using your preferred voip provider/s)
2.forward pstn calls according to caller id and your chosen forward number
3.pin provisions to remotely access your voip services inorder to place international calls.
and
as far as mobile phones, if you're being charge/bill by your telco for mobile to land line and vise versa calls then spa3102 will not help you alone. you need a different toy for that
