Raketu and Voxalot? (Free calls to 42 countries!)
Raketu is a Skype like software that works as a multi messenger and IP TV and social networks and VoIP program that uses SIP and... It seems they want to fulfill nearly every communication need, but I am escpecially interested in the phone calls feature.
Until now their phone service seems to work only on their proprietary software, but the underlying architecture for the phone calls is SIP. Yesterday they have cut their RakOut dial out calling rates by up to 66 percent and yet for quite some time they offer free calls to 42 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azores, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Canary Islands, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guam, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Korea South, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK, USA, Venezuela, Virgin Islands-USA Raketu - RakOut with Raketu! - rakout They promised already in february to publish their SIP settings so that Raketu could also be used on ATAs or with Voxalot. But until now I did not find more information on that. Does anybody know how to set up Raketu with Voxalot? |

Some interesting tariffs in there. I wonder if they're true
Does Raketu support sending DTMF, unlike Skype? |

Looks good. An alternative to Betamax if they accept SIP. Have you tried some obvious registration addresses like raketu.com or sip.raketu.com? Shame the free Brazil calls are only Sao Paolo.

I have been trying since March
I have been trying since before March to get the settings for ann ATA because I also found it attractive....well my friends it is June 15th and nada.
I have a company I am talking to and soon will work with, that offers all of North America for free and that is any line, landline and cell in both Canada and the USA. They supply a usb "Dongle" you plug in a phone and away it goes. I have been testing it for a week and the quality is beyond excellent plus look at all the gateways available on SipBroker to make calls to other countries. I have been around the block so to speak and been through everybody's Beta testings, this has a super pedigree and I think will kick A#S out of some of the major "girls" Last edited by dennisd345; 06-15-2007 at 12:46 PM. Are you talking about the Magicjack?
An USB dongle? Are you talking about the "amazing" Magicjack?
The Magicjack doesn't seem magic to me. It's so stupid to have to have your computer switched on, just to make an receive phone calls. That's as inconvenient as Skype. The only good VoIP solution is an ATA that connects to your normal phone. It makes the phone work like before but the calls are cheaper. A Wifi phone is also a solution, but Wifi sucks too much from my Nokia battery. But to have to switch my computer on for phone calls over an USB dongle annoys me. I use my computer only for testing purposes with X-Lite or Ekiga. |

completely agree El_Condor opinion...I also prefer an asterisk solution with callthru than usb dongle.
