Voicemail problem - "The number is not answering"
All incoming calls that I don't answer get a "The number is not answering" message. I have my voicemail set to active, and I've disable the voicemail on my VPS, ViaTalk. Is there something I'm missing to be able to get voicemail to work?

Can no body help me? The message, "the number is not answering," seems to imply my voicemail service is not active, even though I clearly have it set to active. What more can I do to get voicemail working? Voicemail is something I must have working in order to continue using voxalot.

It sounds like the message you're getting is from ViaTalk... Do you get VM if you call a SipBroker Access Number (SIPBroker - PSTN Numbers) then enter your VoXNumber in *010123456 format (replace 123456 with your VoXalot number) |

Using SipBroker my phones does ring, and then I do get voicemail as expected.
ViaTalk is a registered VSP in Voxalot, and not a SIP forward. So it seems you may be correct, and the message is a ViaTalk message, but still don't know why. Any ideas? |

I have seen this with VoiceStick before, even if I turned off my VM it would still say the "This person is not available" after so many rings Two possibilities: 1. Get in touch with ViaTalk, explain to them what's happening and ask them if they can manually turn the message off... 2. Get a general idea how long before the message from ViaTalk comes up. Eg. If the ViaTalk message comes up after 30 sec, set your VoXalot VM to 20-25 sec and see if things change them (or better yet to see if this is even possible set VoXalot VM to 5 sec and see if it comes up then, if yes keep increasing the time until you hit the ViaTalk message again, then go slightly lower).... |

You've nailed it. A setting in ViaTalk, conveniently called "rings seconds" was set to a few seconds lower than my Voxalot voicemail answer setting. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
