SIP Broker now supports Toll Free terminations
To all Voxalot Members:
SIP Broker now supports terminations to toll-free numbers in North America. All users of Voxalot and SIP Broker can now dial these toll free numbers by using the SIP Broker dialling convention: *1800 *1866 *1877 *1888 For example to dial Diners on +1 800 234 6377 within either Voxalot or SIP Broker just dial: *18002346377 The benefit of this solution is that it eliminates the need for you to create special dial plans with specific voice service providers that support 1800 terminations. |

Yes they should be deleted, and no they are not going through FWD. They are our own terminations.

I think you could previously dial these via Sipbroker as *0131800...
And other countries freephone numbers are also possible, some via Sipbroker or via FWD even without an account there, as eg *393*31800... http://faq.sipbroker.com/tiki-index....hone%20Numbers some other interesting ideas there, like conference calls ... |

*394* caused the box to re-boot. Nothing in the manual about this. Weird. .-.-. |

As this news is great for north america, do you plan to add other countries ? If so, I already see some issue in the dialing, even if the pattern is really simple to use (just add the * in front of the toll free number) Considering 1800 is for toll free number in the USA, in germany you have (0)180, and french (0)800 and (0)805... Following your, we could have *0800 fo french numbers and *0180 for germans ! Is your plan an exception against all other countries ? You did this plan considering the simplicity of the dialing for all world wide toll free number, I wonder how do you think you can make difference between 2 toll free number beginning with the same 3 or 4 digits, but originating from different countries ? I understand you began with the USA, I'm just curious of the future developpment of this, as this is really a neat feature |

1800 w/o * works for me
I already noticed about 4 weeks ago that 1800 w/o the star (no *1800) also works through voxalot. I noticed this by calling a few 1800 credit card #s and getting PSTN incoming calls at the same time, which I was not able to get a few months ago.
Is the functionality for 1800 and *1800 of the same nature, using same routing etc.? Are there any advantages of using one over another? |
