Default Voxalot port ?

Hi Martin

At my university in Norway they have blocked the ip port 5060, but they are allowing skype and port 80.

Is it possible to make voxalot work with differint port like 80 ? Im also using a Nokia N80 internet edition that works fine with voxalot, but when im at university i cant connect to it because its blocked

My ISP blocked port 5060 too,
But every other ports is avaible.

A service like www.pbxes.com made ports 80-5060-5061 avaible to connect, and a lot of people use it only for this reason.
And i'm able to connect on port 5061 with my sip phone without any problem.

Voxalot is easier to use, is very fast but i cannot communicate with it, so is possible to open another port here at Voxalot....only one port and all my voip problem with my isp would be resolved.

I have had strange episodes of blocking during weekends. Last time it happened, I remembered what was written here. I tried pbxes first and since that actually worked, I tried changing Voxalot port and started working as well, like magic.

We are considering port redirects for:

4060
3060
2060

I dont think we will redirect port 80. Would the above be useful to most people in this situation?

Edit: We are now also re-directing port 80

I think we should study what exactly the ISP or the University is doing when it is trying to block SIP. Is it only inbound 5060 being blocked, or outbound too? Doesn't the NAT port-shuffle tend to obfuscate the ports used anyway on the WAN side? Can't end users change their ATAs and IP phones from 5060 on the SIP port to something else? It would seem best to know how exactly universities and some ridiculous ISPs are blocking SIP before we can come up with effective workarounds.

We've seen this kind of blocking before. Essentially they block both inbound and outbound on 5060.

Changing the port settings within the ATA will help the inbound side of things, however VoXaLot and most providers listen on 5060 and if they are blocking outbound 5060, this affects registrations etc.

It is quite any easy change for us to redirect other ports, however we don't just want to open up a massive range. Members that are interested in this change please let us know whether my above post will cater for your needs.

Thanks.

I got my voipbuster softphone innstalled on my machine and that is registered with my University and i can make calls out, but still wondering why i cant registered with voxalot ? Anyone got a clue ?

I tried with 4060, 3060 and 2060 nothing...... Are these port active or are going to be active ?

If this is no problemo for voxalot it would be nice to try these ports out, i wanted to test to see if it would work. I have also a Nokia N80 internet edition phone that would be nice to get active with voxalot from the University maybe the port open for 4060,3060 or 2060 will do the trick
