Default Multiple ENUM records

Hi,

I have multiple ENUM-record added for my phone number at e164.org, each with different preference (10, 20 and 30). However, each time my number is looked up, it seems to return a different ENUM record of these 3, the returned SIP-URL seems to be "rolling" rather than just choosing the one with the lowest preference number. Is this how it's supposed to work? This happens when dialing through sipbroker or looking the number up on the sipbroker-webpage.

Thanks,
Christian

Sounds like the records are being used without being parsed, which goes against RFCs etc.

Default I can confirm this

I have seen the same thing with USA 1800 numbers. SOmetimes they return 1641641800XXXXXXX@tollfreefateway.com and other times the same number returns I think it is like 1800XXXXXXX@anotherdomain.com (where anotherdomain is the toll free Michigan? Gateway that never seemed to work??).

At times I have even seen 18000 numbers with valid entries show the tollfreegateway.com URI.

I believe something is not quite right. You can test this on the SipBroker ENUM lookup page. It displays the same result. Just do several searches for the same toll free number and you will probably see it.

Part of the RFCs on DNS round-robin is to return the records in a randomised order, it is up to the client making the request to handle the returned information.
