I think most of us ex-Voxalotters will miss the user-friendly interface. When it comes to functionality and flexibility, though, as well as value for money, I have found that SIPSorcery ticks most of the boxes. Aaron has already put in a fair bit of effort in making SIPSorcery more friendly for Voxalot users and there's more to come, e.g. web callback.

Happy festive season to all Voxalot users and moderators and a big thank you to Martin for giving us the pleasure of using this useful service for about five years. Hope to see most of you in the SIPSorcery forum!

Don't know. Haven't used it for a few weeks now as I escaped to SIPSorcery. Anyway, tomorrow is the last day so you may as well make the change now if you haven't already done so.

us.voxalot.com is down (stopped registering on 12/27). eu.voxalot.com and au.voxalot.com are still working.

I also went to sipsorcery, but I am running a local version on my VPS. I guess I got tired of voip providers dying on me. SIPSorcery used to be free, now it costs $35/year. I can get a good VPS for about $50 a year and run Sipsorcery, website, php, proxy etc. The best part is I have full control and nobody can shut down my SIPSorcery local instance because they are not making money

Call forwarding still works on us.voxalot.com, but I can't sip register it anymore. I moved to SIPsorcery and I need to put in the passwords for my providers, the problem is I haven't touched them for more than two years since I joined Voxalot and I don't remember them .

In the morning of the 28th some accounts coudn't registrer anymore, all on us.voxalot.com. Not checked if other servers like eu and au worked.

But one account is still registrated at us.voxalot.com

It is sad that this very good service has stopped.

Maybe if there was given more "open" information about the costs of this service there could have bin a company or group of people who has taken over the service.

I would be interested to take over the service with a group of people, but there was no easy entry to get information about possiblyties and costs of the system.

The systems will still exist offline? I Hope, so maybe one day in the future the service can be online again? When VoIP is more grown up and servicecosts will be cheaper?

All the best for 2012, with or without a service like Voxalot.

The costs, I think are primarily from bandwidth usage. Voxalot is based on asterisk, which does media handling. This can use excessive bandwidth and therefore rack up costs when there are many users. Sipsorcery does not do any media handling, only SIP signaling, so its bandwidth requirements are much lower.

Also you can check the voxalot servers' status here:
