Default Member registration problem

I'm having a problem going through the very 1st step - the member registration. I filled in the member registration field, received a email with a link to fully activate my account, clicked on the link and got a message: "Unable to confirm registration for XXXXXX with token ZZZZZZZZ." Have I done this too quickly? Is it a manual process, which requires a couple of days to work?

I PM'd you the number a coupe of days ago, but please do not bother to follow up. I've set up another account and it worked straight away.

I changed my email address and made an error setting it up. When I login in to my account 825986, I get the error message 'Error user not activated yet'. Both my new and old email address are valid. Any validation email sent was never received. It's urgent as my family can't make any calls!
