Could this be linked to the problem?

Ben
Looks like a distinct possibility. Voxalot re-registers every 3600 seconds however this is not something we can change without some serious consideration as this will put 60 times more load on our infrastructure.

Martin,

Understand what you say about server load... and thanks for your reply. Is there a way to verify from logs if this is indeed the case?

If so, can you think of any workaround at all?

Cheers,

Ben

Ben,

You might like to try my workaround (it seems to be working at present). I have an FWD account that forwards to sip:<myuserid>@eu.voxalot.com.

Because Voipfone peers with FWD I have set my Voipfone account to divert to *393<myFWDuserid>.

Incoming calls to my Voipfone number now ring on my Voxalot-registered device.

I hope this helps.

ataboy,

I'm not totally sure I understand peering, but if you're talking about the SipBroker peering here:

SIPBroker - Provider White Pages

Would it not be possible to divert Voipfone directly to Voxalot (skipping the FWD step) by diverting to *031<yourvoxalotID> ?

To be honest I didn't realise it was possible to divert Voipfone to a SIP number like this...

Rgds,

Ben

As you have probably discovered, this doesn't work. Voipfone obviously don't have a peering setup with Sipbroker (though we could ask them to set one up, I suppose). Consequently access codes such as *031, *010 won't work in their divert box.

I chose FWD because it appears in their peering list.

I notice on some of the Voipfone forums that Sipbroker peering has been asked for in the past. Rather than add another request on the forum I have emailed Voipfone support directly and asked for it. Let's see if anything happens!

I've also now emailed them about SipBroker peering...

Well... they responded to my request for SipBroker peering, saying "I've referred your request to the directors."... hmm... we'll see.

I also just posted a message in their user forums that may be worth keeping an eye on, or adding your voice to:

Peering, again...

In the meantime I've managed to cobble together a rather inelegant hack by call-forwarding Voipfone to a Gizmo/SipPhone number and then having that registered in Voxalot:

In VOIPfone control panel go to the "Set Call Divert" button, then in the box saying "Divert all calls to" enter your Gizmo/SipPhone number in this format:

*747xxxxxxx

Then add your Gizmo/SipPhone provider details as a Voxalot VSP, and set SIP register to "yes"

Like I say, it's not a great solution, but it does seem to work...

Cheers,

Ben

Yup, I got that too. Maybe we'll hear the news (or not) at the same time.
