Cheap 13/1300 calls.
At present there is a number of providers that offer cheap calls to geographical numbers, but not to 13 and 1300 numbers, and one way round this is to store 13 and 1300 numbers in e164.org and return tel records, and if there are multiple tel records (as 13 numbers can be directed to a local number in the local exchange) it should be possible to come up with a script to call the closest number.
However before this is possible we need a database of numbers to lookup against, and while this isn't as good as directly calling over the internet for free it will reduce call costs and that should be in everyone's interest even the companies with 13 numbers as they will save on call charges etc. Please see http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...99&p=-1#bottom for more details, or to help out go to https://www.e164.org/non.php |

I've created a proof of concept to use details from e164.org in dial plans in Asterisk.
