Welcome to Roam4free.ie - The end of sky high roaming charges ! Their website says: Use in over 115 countries, and receive calls for FREE in over 65 countries. No call set up. Per-minute billing. Up to 90% discount on standard mobile rates. Works on most mobile phones and virtually any network across the globe. Easy to use. Top up from anywhere at anytime - direct from your phone. No line rental. No minimum contract. No call set up. No hidden costs. Here are the Calls Rates for Brazil: Receive a call (EUR per min): 0.09 Make a call to most destinations (EUR per min): 0.50 SMS Rates Receive SMS (EUR per SMS): Free Send SMS (EUR per SMS): 0.35 Other services Rates Customer care (EUR per min): 0.45 Add credit: Free Check balance: Free I admit that I don't understand well the global roaming. But their boss has an interesting VoIP blog (Roam4free) that I read regularily. So I found the company. |

Thank you for your help El_condor, but the problem with this provider is this:
What country code does the sim have? The sim uses an Estonian number.... Besides that they charge to receive calls in Brazil. I'll continue to look for some Global SIM that offer US, HK, etc. phone number, but after some research and andy's suggestion I think it will be easier to find a SIP VoIP provider that can call UK mobiles very cheap and use it to forward to some of the Isle of Man's SIMs. Quote:

Apologies for not telling you yet about Skype, and it seems it is just the wrong moment as they've corrected the tariff. Perhaps you can see why I was only willing to mention this privately. Recently I used Voxalot and a Vono account (from Brazil) to reach it, which was more reliable and cheaper than the forwarded SkypeIn number, but it looks like this will be over now for this particular use. The call quality was rather variable anyway. There will be some more global SIMs soon - another from IoM called Cloud9, though perhaps their (weekdays only) free incoming calls will be mostly in Europe. Others may not be very far away. With any of these global SIMs, just as for many single-country ones, using a separate callback (maybe also with a call forward) is cheaper than their own tariff. Setting up the call involves either double callback or use of another phone, such as wap/gprs for Voxalot mobile callback. Last edited by andy; 04-29-2007 at 10:23 AM. |
