Solution for Hotel Internet Web Authentication that Times Out
Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on handling the following issue. I have an SPA-1001 which I finally got to work in hotel rooms equiped with only Wifi Internet Access and uses Web Based Authentication. Involves cloning the SPA's MAC address on the laptop, authenticating then plugging the cable into the SPA. Anyhow, everything seems to work fine, but in my first test overnight, the SPA keeps the IP address, but loses its registration to Voxalot. I'm guessing this is because the Hotel Internet is again asking for web based authentication. Its seems to do that every now and then. Not sure the timeout duration. In other words, it asks me to enter the Internet Access code (in the browser) I was provided when I checked in to authenticate myself again. Does anyone have any idea if any settings can be changed to (hopefully) stop my connection from timing out and making it necessarily for me to re-authenticate via the laptop? I am thinking of the following settings in the SPA: NAT Keep Alive - Set to Yes or Register Expires - Shorten duration, currently at 3600 seconds. (not sure if this would cause a problem with Voxalot). Anyone have experience here or any ideas? Thanks in advance Richard |

I am sure you can shorten the registration without any issue for Voxalot.
Typically, I use 120-300 seconds on my hardware device. Due to the issues with hotel room internet access authentication, I have stuck to using a softphone on a laptop, with a good quality USB phone, when travelling. There are also cordless or Bluetooth devices you can get, that might be more convenient. |
