Priceless voip service: VraagAlexVoip
Alexander van Dijl, the founder of VraagAlex, started with offering alternative numbers to expensive premium numbers.
With the aim of making phone calls cheaper or even free of charge for anyone, he and his team started their own volunteer and free voip service; VraagAlexVoip. VraagAlexVoip works with any phone you may have, including softphone, SIP-based IP phones, analog landlines (using an ATA), and mobile phones. Like many Internet-based voice services, it is free for on-network calls. Yet the best part: all calls to any regular land-line in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denemark, Thailand, USA, Australia, and UK are completely free. And the list of international destinations is still growing. You will find much more information on the VraagAlex websites and VraagAlex Wiki. These pages are in... Dutch However, VraagAlex has also information pages in English. Subscribe, get your account details and start calling. Zoe |

How to make VraagAlexVoip work with Voxalot
hamsat commented that he is not able to make VraagAlexVoip work with Voxalot.
The solution for now: When configuring provider settings, please enter the IP-address 85.223.52.35 in the Host field instead of voip.vraagalex.nl and you should be able to make outgoing calls. Zoe |

Then I must be doing something wrong. I registered on the website (I guessed more or less what to write in each box, luckily Dutch slightly resembles English), then I received an email with all the registration details and I registered the account in Voxalot (85.223.52.35 in the Host field). But when I try to call a Canadian number I hear someone speaking in Dutch and that’s it; I don’t understand anything he says. The dialled number was 00+1(country code)+number , is this the correct format?
Also, are the free VOIP calls to Canadian numbers really free, no FUP, no nothing ? Last edited by Corbu'; 02-15-2010 at 01:53 AM. |

Hello Corbu',
The Dutch speaking person tells you that "the service is made possible by VraagAlex and if you like the service please consider making a donation....." and to "wait until the call is established". So just wait and you will get your contact on the line. The format 00-1-number is correct. And, I assure you, no hidden costs! Zoe Last edited by zoemcalister; 02-15-2010 at 09:26 AM. |

Well something is still not right; I can't call Canadian numbers. I wait for the person to speak, at the end I think I hear a Dutch version of "For service and information please stay on the line", then it rings, I wait and in the end the person speaks in Dutch again. But the intended called phone never rings (tried with a landline and a cell phone).
How can I record the message that I hear, maybe you can troubleshoot the problem? Thanks. Last edited by Corbu'; 02-15-2010 at 02:23 PM. |

Maybe you can use this application to record the message you hear:
record softphone conversations - download tag - page 1 - Softpedia |

EasyVoipRecorder doesn't work. I get a dialog box saying "The EasyVoiprecorderService is not running now. Would you like to start it now?" I click yes and the dialog box pops up again. Probably it is not compatible with Windows 7 x64.
