Where to get a reliable did to forward to voxalot

HI,

I've been using the gv > ipkall > voxalot setup for making and receiving calls and it works but with recent service outages at ipkall, i'm considering just getting a more reliable paid did to use instead. Can anyone tell me where I can buy one to forward directly to voxalot like ipkall? I don't want one thats' tied to a ITSP even if I could forward it. Thanks.

A DID is not needed in order to receive GoogleVoice calls on a Voxalot account because GoogleVoice can be forwarded directly to a Gizmo5 SIP account. The Gizmo5 account can be forwarded to any SIP address such as 123456@voxalot.com or directly to your ATAs SIP address.

Unfortunately, Gizmo5 has become terribly unstable/unreliable as of late also. I was using Gizmo5 with Google Voice, but changed to a free DID from Sipgate which is registered at Sip Sorcery and works well with the Google Voice callback mechanism there.

Gizmo5 had some service outages recently, but only during business hours. I suspect it's due to heavy usage by GoogleVoice users during the days Monday through Friday. Gizmo5 may have made some upgrades, I have not noticed any outages in the past few days. Over the years I've used Gizmo5 they have been dependable. I'll say the same for IPkall.

For those with a two line ATA I suggest forwarding GoogleVoice simultaneously to Gizmo5 and IPkall. Receive the Gizmo5 call on one Line and the IPkall number on the other line. Alternatively have Gizmo5 and IPkall ring in on the same line, but this will cause call waiting beep most of the time, so you may want to disable call waiting in your ATA. Using either method you would miss GoogleVoice calls only when Gizmo5 and IPkall are both out of service at the same time, not very often.

I'll give that a try. I don't currently use an ata, I just have x-lite running in the background on the pc. Not sure how it will handle simultaneous incoming calls from ipkall and gizmo5. If I could qualify for a discount/low-income/lifeline/etc pots line I would get that.

Edit: I just tried it and it rings both lines on x-lite so I can pick up either one by clicking on the line number. IPKall rings first then Gizmo5 about a 1-2 seconds later.
