Codec selection not working
Hi!
It seems like the codec settings for external providers are not working quite well. After deleting alaw and ulaw from the codec list of the main provider I use for making outbound calls, but both my VoIP adapters will keep connecting with G.711. Since I would like to use my E60 over UMTS, using lighter codes would allow me to pay less for placing call, but even though I set "Use Compression" at "Yes" it still will use 9 kB/s in every direction. Just for the record: I am not using the outbound proxy. Would it also be possible to set codecs for Voxalot's internal numbers? (VoiceBox for example). Thanks! |

I don't think so...

If you really don't want g711 then you will need to remove it from your ATA or reduce its priority. |
Aside from selecting "Use Compression" there is nothing more I can set in E60. I could force G729 with my sipura, but there I have no use for it.
Truphone for example will always prioritize AMR codec, but for that they use an provisioning SMS. With Nokia's E-Series AFAIK you can use this provisioning SMS to tell it to use something other than G711. The other option would be to simply block it, forcing Nokia to take its standard next best. Btw, could we get AMR as a codec? :D |
Hi Martin, are there any news on this?

http://forum.voxalot.com/voxalot-sup....html#post7978 Right now it is not possible to change the Codec selection between ATA and Voxalot from within Voxalot itself. It is only possible by restricting the ATA. |
Thanks for pointing this out, it is just exactly what I would need. Anxiously awaiting for it being implemented.
