voicemail suggestions

Oh, I'm pretty sure this has been suggested before, but if it has, I guess I'd cast my vote. If they haven't, well here they are:

1) Make the format of voicemail a choice - many email readers I have supports playing an mp3-file "inline". With the current setup, I have to download the attached file, open it in the appropriate program (QuickTime always starts for me), listen to it, delete the file and empty the trash.
Wouldn't it be nice if I could do all this in my mail reader and then just delete the message when done? Right now, it's outright annoying...

2) That "inline" thing would be pretty nice on the website too... There are little flash/mp3-players that are very easy to set up.

3) A little more control over where and what the voicemail gets sent would be neat.

*) Well, there are a gazillion things that would make voicemail better, such as different greetings based on incoming trunk/cid/time etc that are larger features, the above is really just the gripes I have with the service.

Oh, also, as number 4. Why not have the cid and the date/time in the filename?

Audio file formats

Hi,

There is a fierce reason not to use the MP3 file format, that is because MP3 is a closed format for which it's necessary to pay royalties. So, it's best to use open formats such as WAV, OGG, and so on. For audio formats you can look at Audio file format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Depending on what is your configuration, you can get around this problem, either using another e-mail reader or browser if your e-mail account can be accessed through web interface, or even with another setting of yours.
You can also listen to and manage your voice mails through VoIP if you dial *500 from your Voxalot account.
Regards,

*500 works a bit so-so for me, I have a hard time getting the right tones through since I also have a swedish voicemail connected to the sip-hub (and I get that to work).

As for the mp3 licensing, well - I pay voxalot for the service so I'd kind of like something that works better. It can't be *that* expensive to find a solution.

Anyhow, the filename problem should be very easy to take care of and would be a nice interim solution.

Mp3 royalties: According to mp3licensing.com - Royalty Rates it seems the cost is about $5 per encoding program. Considering voxalot maybe runs ten servers at most handling this, I estimate the maximum amount to be $50... It just can't be the only problem preventing the voicemail system from being shitty...
