Problem with sip.tollfreegateway.com

Is it just me or is sip.tollfreegateway.com not accepting calls? Call sent to them are failing, for example; 16416418004267378@sip.tollfreegateway.com just gives a busy signal.

Is this a Canadian toll free number by any chance?

boatman 05-07-2008 04:25 AM

It's a number for IBM support but I don't know how to tell where it is located.

Strangely, I get a different voice menu (1 of 2) depending on which toll-free termination provider I use, even though I call to the same number.

Is something going on with sip.tollfreegateway.com? I have not been able to complete calls through them since yesterday.

Do you know which gateway you are hitting? we have multiple gateways... at this time I'm not seeing any issues...

Feel free to PM me or email me via the info on my profile

Also, for anyone else out there... if you are registering your asterisk boxes to tollfreegateway, please don't, it adds additional load to the system (both yours and ours)... registrations are only needed if we are sending you calls (something that wont happen from sip.tollfreegateway.com)

Thanks!

I just dialed +18005558355 through sip.tollfreegateway.com and didn't have an issue. What number(s) were you having issues with?

boatman 07-30-2008 10:11 PM

I am calling directly from a Linksys SPA2100, not via Voxalot. I was trying to call 18668929268. I heard ringing but no answer, Wireshark showed same thing. Calling same number through fwd.pulver.com succeeded. That number is a 24/7 interactive menu, it will answer at all times.

I only know about these two, both act the same.

My User ID in my SPA2100 had been my Gizmo 1747xxxxxxx number. After changing it to my ipkall.com number I can now successfully call 18668929268. Strangely, the calls also succeed if I set my User ID to a word, such as the word oranges.

Not sure what the 1747xxxxxxx issue is if you want to contact me via email (link on my profile) with your number I will look into it more... as far as sending words or whatever if the number sent in the from user doesnt match the NANPA number pattern we reset it on our side to a dead end number on our CLEC switch that always rings busy...

OK, it's clear to me now. Your equipment handles a 1747xxxxxxx number as a NANPA number and passes it on to the callee. The callee's equipment knows that the 747 area code is not an area code from which they want any calls (as area 747 does not exist in the PSTN world), so their equipment doesn't answer the call, that's why I heard the ringing but got not answer.

Correct... I should probably do some better filtering on that... but that would be several hours to filter down to the exchange (which a ton of the commerical gear does) via feeds from Telcordia (which aint cheap)
