e164 and Skype

Just notice that e164 have skype on the options to select the sip carrier. Does this mean that is possible to call Skype from the sipbrokers. If that the case what we should enter for the uri? The skype username? Thanks for the help.

No it is not possible to call Skype via SipBroker...

E164 was built with the future in mind. It is a fully featured DNS server that'll let you associate your telephone number with a SIP URI, EMail Adress and even Skype URI among others...

Of course those last two are only useful if a developer comes along and builds a service that can use the e164 database to lookup that information (the idea was that at some point you could send someone an email just by typing in their phone number for example...or if skype ever opened up their network calls could be delivered into the Skype network... of course the basics are there but developers are needed to build the applications and services that make use of this information stored in the database...)

Perhaps it would be in conjunction through gizmoproject's (gizmo5) Opensky feature which was just launched which is accessible through sipbroker? Gizmo5 - Make free internet calls from your mobile phone and computer - Products
